Datto is releasing a Linux Agent for its BDR unit, which will allow users to store information from servers and workstations both locally and as virtual machines in the Datto Cloud. The offering, which was only available for Windows machines prior to the announcement, is available now.

The company has also partnered with open-source enterprise file sync and share provider ownCloud to offer secure file sync and share capabilities on all of its SIRIS 1 and SIRIS 2 devices, meaning customers can store data both locally and in the Datto cloud for added security, according to the announcement.

Datto Backupify for Office 365 will serve as a cloud software-as-a-service offering that will allow users to save Office 365 mail and calendars. The solution, which is the company’s first joint product with recently acquired company Backupfly, is expected to provide users with “total data protection” and backup for business data wherever it is housed, said to Ian McChord, head of Product Management at Datto. Datto plans to expand the offering into Microsoft SharePoint and OneDrive in the near future.

Datto announced the launch of a new web-based networking appliance called the Datto DNA Router, which is being billed as the first “born in the cloud” router, complete with remote configuration and 4G failover to eliminate potential system downtimes. Users will be able to configure their router via the cloud and will have access to a subscription-based 4G failover service that will allow enterprises to prevent their networks from failing due to a loss of Wi-Fi, according to the announcement. 4G service will initially be offered through Verizon, but other carriers will also be supported, according to McChord. The solution is expected to launch in the fall.

Finally, a new partner portal will provide MSPs with a singular location tko manage all of their Datto devices and services, with new additions such as a Datto Activity Feed also being added after the portal launches this fall.
