CES 2015: Lenovo Shows off Tablets, Laptops, Smartphones
Lenovo showed up in full force at the Consumer Electronic Show (CES) 2015 in Las Vegas this week, where the vendor announced several new devices in each of its major categories, including tablets, laptops, convertibles and smartphones. Laptops: The PC giant showed off several new models of its FLEX 3 convertible laptops in 11-inch, 14-inch and 15-inch flavors. Lenovo also debuted its S41 14-inch laptop, which measures 19.5mm and weighs less than 4 pounds. The FLEX models are scheduled to launch in May, with the S41 expected to launch in June.
Lenovo also unveiled the LaVie Z HZ550 and HZ750 laptops, the company’s first laptops made in collaboration with NEC Personal Computers to be released in the United States since the companies joined forces in 2011. Lenovo said its HZ550 is the world’s lightest 13-inch laptop, weighing 1.72 pounds, while the HZ750 is the lightest 13-inch convertible weighing in at 2 pounds. Both models measure 16.9mm and feature 128GB solid state drives. Lenovo expects the devices to launch in May in the United States.
Tablets: Lenovo is billing its TAB 2 A7-10 and A7-30 as ideal choices for “first-time tablet buyers,” so those looking for more advanced functionality need not apply. The A7-10 includes up to 32GB of storage with a Micro SD, while the A7-30 features the same specs plus 3G calling capabilities. The A7-10 and A7-30 are expected to launch in January and March, respectively.
- The Lenovo YOGA Tablet 2 features an 8-inch display and allows users to turn any writing utensil into a stylus with AnyPen Technology. IT is expected to ship later this month.
- The new YOGA 3 convertibles will be available in 11-inch and 14-inch models beginning in March.
- The ThinkPad YOGA will come in 12-inch, 14-inch and 15-inch versions, with the 12-inch and 15-inch models expected to launch in February. The 14-inch model is expected to hit shelves in May.
Desktop PCs: The B50 with 3D Camera is Lenovo’s latest All-In-One desktop, giving users the capability to generate virtual spaces for videoconferencing and store depth information for 3D editing and printing. The camera will also allow users to manipulate objects with hand and finger movements and facial expressions, according to the company. The B50 features a 23.8-inch screen and is scheduled for release in March.
The new C Series All-In-One desktop lineup comes includes the 21.5-inch C40 and the 23-inch C50 models. Both desktops offer optional touchscreens and are expected to hit shelves in March.
Smartphones: The Lenovo L90 smartphone features a 5.5-inch display and is powered by the 64-bit Intel Atom processor and Intel XMM 7260 LTE-Advanced modem. The L90 is scheduled to ship in February.
Lenovo also unveiled a special edition model of the VIBE X2 Pro smartphone, which features a full-metal body and 5.3-inch display. The cameral also comes equipped with dual 13MP cameras. The Limited Edition X2 Pro is expected to ship in April.
Wearables: Lenovo is also throwing its hat into the wearables arena with the VIBE Band VB10, which features an E Ink display and allows users to monitor fitness levels as well as receive notifications for calls, SMS, Facebook, Twitter and more. The band is priced at $89 and is expected to hit shelves in April.
