With the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2015 in full swing this week in Las Vegas, Hewlett-Packard (HPQ) announced a slew of new consumer and enterprise-based products across its entire portfolio. Here’s the lowdown on everything the vendor has showcased so far at this year’s event.
HP Pavilion Mini Desktop: HP’s Pavilion Mini desktop is a palm-sized computer weighing 1.6 pounds and measuring 2.06 inches high. The device features up to 1TB of storage and 8GB of expanded memory. HP is billing the device as a discreet and compact solution for family computers.
HP Stream Mini Desktop: The Stream Mini desktop is the same size and weight as the Pavilion Mini but comes with a 32GB solid state drive and 200GB of Microsoft OneDrive Storage for two years.
Both models are available now online and are expected to hit store shelves in February.
HP ZBook 14 and 15u: These ultrabooks are HP’s thinnest and lightest models yet, according to the announcement, featuring 14-inch and 15.6-inch displays, respectively. Both devices come equipped with up to 16GB of memory and optional touch displays. The ZBook 14 and 15u are expected to be available later this month.
Multi Jet Fusion 3D Printer: HP’s latest 3D printer claims to be 10 times faster than other printers on the market by imaging the entire surface area of an object at once rather than point-by-point. The device uses HP’s Thermal Inkjet technology and simultaneously applies multiple liquid agents for more accurate, resilient and uniform part strength, according to the company.
HP plans to provide a certification process for partners to drive materials innovation with the printer, although specific details were not announced. Wider distribution of the Multi Jet Fusion printer is expected to begin in 2016.
Sprout by HP: This device combines a scanner, depth sensor, hi-resolution camera and projector into a single device to allow users to scan objects and create 3D models. Sprout by HP is the first product in HP’s Blended Reality ecosystem and will allow multiple users to manipulate 3D scanned objects in real time, according to the company. The device uses a dual-screen format by combining an HD touchscreen with a touchmat to allow users to manipulate digitized objects.
Sprout also utilizes HP Workspace, a software platform built specifically for the device. Applications for Sprout can be accessed through the Sprout Marketplace, including games, drawing and crafting apps and more. The solution is available for preorder and is expected to launch Nov. 9.
HP Officejet 8040 with Neat e-All-in-One: HP’s latest printer includes a 1TB local hard drive and integrated Neat cloud-based Smart Organization System, allowing users to digitize, organize and print from their mobile devices.
HP DL380z Virtual Workstation: The 9th generation virtual workstation features a 2U rack-mount and only transmits encrypted pixel data over LAN or WAN. It allows administrators to manage different user profiles with multiple configuration options, according to HP. The DL380z is available now.
HP Remote Graphics Software 7.1: The latest edition of HP’s remote graphics software provides users with access to their graphics software from any location and includes Wacom tablet redirection to Linux. According to HP, the latest version provides a 60 percent boost in performance over previous versions. The software is expected to be available in April and will also be available as a free download for existing HP Z Workstation customers.
