Workspace as a Service Provider itopia Closes $3.5 Million in Funding

Workspace as a service provider itopia announced on Monday that it has raised $3.5 million in funding, which it plans to use to enhance its partner program and support its engineering efforts. The funding is co-led by John McIntire and Eric Kamisher, and Sean Chamock, all of whom will sit on the itopia board of directors.

itopia offers a cloud workspace management platform, called Cielo, that it says was designed to simplify the migration to and ongoing management of cloud services from a single pane of glass.

According to itopia, the three strategic growth areas where it will use its funding is to expand its channel development teams, including inside and field sales, digital marketing and partner support; improve its partner program with additional training and educational resources; as well as accelerate its engineering efforts.

According to data from the 2016 MSPmentor 501, itopia has the most market share with MSPmentor 501 companies that leverage an end to end WaaS platform.

“With this new funding, itopia gains the resources to generate greater awareness for its proprietary Cielo cloud workspace management platform,” Ubaldo Don, itopia co-founder and CTO said in a statement. “We’re redoubling our efforts to help channel partners and vendors seize the massive opportunity around virtual workspaces and profit from the pent-up demand for agile, cloud-based technology that aligns with companies’ business objectives and helps drive bottom-line success.”

itopia claims that Cielo automatically discovers components of an on-premises environment, and then provisions and migrates those to the cloud. The automatic discovery can save companies a lot of time, according to itopia, who says migrations using Cielo are 10x faster than the traditional approach.
