Expectations for 2018 are very big among IT channel companies. Are Trump's policies the reason why? For insights, Channel Futures turns to CompTIA's top researcher. In this episode, Tim Herbert shares insights from his organization's recently released Industry Outlook study for 2018.

Cloud and Economy

The Democratization of technology. The maturity of cloud computing. The growth of online marketplaces.

These are but a few of the topics that the IT Industry Outlook 2018 study, recently published by CompTIA, covers.

Our own Lynn Haber took a close look at the findings, which were released in January. In Lynn’s report, she zeroes in on the high confidence of the channel, its opportunities and more. Well worth your time.

But for additional insights, I turned to Tim Herbert, pictured below, who oversaw the report’s production. Herbert is the senior vice president of research and industry analysis at CompTIA, and a longtime market watcher.

Tim Herbert

Herbert is a self-described “data junkie who works to ‘connect the dots’ and make sense of the ever-changing technology landscape.” In addition to industry economics, Herbert is an observer of government policies, fine food and tech gadgetry. (His latest fascination: Intel’s Vaunt glasses, which he describes as smart lenses people may actually want.)

In this episode of the Channel Futures podcast, Tim and I talked about his organization’s latest report, the overall state of the tech economy, hot jobs, Trump’s economic policies and more. His observations will surprise and challenge you.
