SAP to Develop New Industry-Specific Cloud Solutions
SAP (ADR) today announced plans to bring new industry-specific solutions to the cloud. The company has created an Industry Cloud organization to develop prescriptive, industry-based cloud road maps for businesses.
SAP said it will collaborate with customers and partners to provide specialized cloud solutions that can be deployed across hybrid, private or public infrastructures.
These solutions will run on the SAP Cloud powered by SAP HANA via SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud, a subscription-based service used by customers to manage mission-critical applications and big data in real-time.
SAP currently provides cloud solutions for several industries, including:
- Financial services
- Healthcare
- Higher education
- Retail
- Travel and transportation
Simon Paris, SAP’s global head of strategic industries, will lead the company’s Industry Cloud organization. He said he believes new industry-specific cloud solutions will allow SAP to better support its customers and partners.
“Working in industries with highly specialized challenges, we will focus on our customers’ most relevant business problems and then work creatively and collaboratively to develop industry cloud solutions,” Paris said in a prepared statement. “With SAP’s proven integration, consistency and coherency across all lines of business, mobile, analytics and technology, we are primed to deliver the deepest and broadest industry cloud solutions in the world.”
SAP serves 25 industries, and the company said its new cloud solutions could “offer customers specialized, next-generation business processes and intuitive interfaces.”
