Online Tech: Managed Data Centers Meet Health Care

health care managed services

Online Tech, a managed data center operator in Michigan, is promoting HIPAA expertise, SAS 70 compliance and virtualization know-how to win business in the health care vertical. One prime example: AccuMedWeb, which develops electronic patient care reporting (ePCR) software, now leverages Online Tech's managed servers and off-site disaster recovery capabilities. Here's why.

AccuMedWeb's ePCR software, named eMedicReports, helps EMTs and paramedics record patient information. Hardly surprising, AccuMedWeb requires zero downtime coupled with secure, HIPAA-compliant data centers.

Enter Online Tech, which offers fully managed VMware hosting environments and data centers that meet SAS 70 Type II audits.

Constant Evolution

Online Tech offers an important history lesson for many MSPs. The company was founded in 1994 as one of Michigan's first Internet Service Providers (ISPs). But by 2003, Online Tech was acquired and started pushing into the managed data center market. Since that time, Online Tech has averaged 30 percent annual revenue growth, the company says.

In a savvy marketing move, Online Tech markets its services to both IT executives and business executives.

No doubt, plenty of MSPs are chasing healthcare IT dollars these days. Not by coincidence, MSP University recently launched a guide to building a successful healthcare IT business practice.
