N-able Declares: We’re Global
Through software as a service (SaaS), more and more MSP software providers profess to reach all corners of the globe. The latest example: N-able Technologies says its N-central 6.7 release is “now available worldwide.” I applaud the global expansion of managed services, but I also want to keep the SaaS momentum in perspective.
Whether it’s remote monitoring tools or professional service automation tools, more and more MSP industry software providers evanglize their SaaS offerings as global in nature. And generally speaking, SaaS allows VARs anywhere to participate in the MSP revolution.
But I caution anyone who thinks SaaS is the answer for instant, overnight global expansion. Even N-able, with its growing SaaS initiative, continues to invest in localized support.
In Australia, for instance, I witnessed fierce — but healthy — competition between local employees representing N-able and Kaseya. That localized, personalized support helped both N-able and Kaseya to win business from VARs who value the type of local handholding that SaaS can’t deliver. (Side note: I expect Kaseya to launch its own SaaS initiative within the next few months.)
Yes, I’m bullish on SaaS. And while big software companies continue to consider (Microsoft) or dismiss (Oracle) major SaaS initiatives, it’s great to see numerous MSP industry software companies with fully baked SaaS strategies. But localized education and support — which helps VARs really become MSPs — will determine greatness on a global scale.
