MSP M&A: Oregon MSP Expands Through Acquisition
MSPmentor is still hearing about end-of-year merger and acquisition activities in the managed services market. Today’s news comes out of Medford, Ore. Seven-year-old managed services provider (MSP) Core Business Services has acquired Southern Oregon Managed Networks, effectively expanding its geographic operations to the Grants Pass area in Southern Oregon and adding more healthcare vertical expertise and customers. Here’s the scoop.
Core Business Services, which the company says employs the largest IT support team south of Portland, provides fixed fee technology services such as network management services, back up and disaster recovery, cloud computing, enterprise project implementation, ShoreTel VOIP phone systems, managed print services and other services to customers in the state of Oregon.
The deal enables Core Business Services to bring its IT support and related services to clients throughout the state, including those in Grants Pass, the companies said. While Core Business Services has had a presence in Grants Pass, this provides the company with a local office, said President and CEO Scott Anderson. Core had existing offices in Portland and Medford.
Jeremy Nugent, founder of Southern Oregon Managed Networks, which opened its doors in 2005 called the deal a win-win for all parties.
“It’s rare to find a good company to hand your clients over to with full confidence, let alone a local organization,” he said.
In addition to the geographic expansion, the deal will provide Core Business Services with an even bigger footprint in the healthcare vertical market, according to Brian Simmons, director of operations at Core.
