MSP Acquisition: Network Billing Systems Buys Simlab.net

June is turning into “merger and acquisition month” for managed service providers. The latest deal involves telecommunications service provider Network Billing Systems (NBS) acquiring Simlab.net, an MSP.

This is the 16th deal this year — and the sixth in June — to land on our MSPmentor M&A  Tracker. Here’s a bit more on the NBS-Simlab.net combo.

Network Billing Systems (www.nbsvoice.com) of Wayne, N.J. blends traditional telecommmunications services (local, long distance) with VoIP, managed and hosted services. The company brands itself around a platform it calls V.o.I.C.E. (Voice over Internet Communications Exchange). NBS says it has about 750,000 customers across the U.S.

In contrast, Simlab.net specializes in managed firewalls, VPNs and other bread-and-butter managed services.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but it sounds like NBS and Simlab.net have been working together on joint customer engagements for about five years, according to a company statement.
