McAfee: We’re In Acquisition Mode
McAfee, Inc.’s Chief Executive David DeWalt made waves last Friday when he told Reuters that they were looking to acquire multiple technology companies this year. Here’s the scoop from the security sector.
“We’ve been very constantly acquiring companies the last few years. We’ll continue to do that. We see small- and medium-sized acquisitions as the perfect scenario for us,” DeWalt told Reuters Television in an interview on Friday.
The security vendor is definitely in the right place, financially speaking, to be making acquisitions after a strong 2009 that included grabbing up cloud security vendor MX Logic. Meanwhile, McAfee rival Symantec has stayed uncharacteristically quiet after a solid but overall unimpressive year.
Rumors have abounded of late that McAfee itself might be up for sale, likely to HP or even Microsoft. DeWalt dismissed the romors.
So who’s on McAfee’s acquisition radar? Even the resident blogger over at The VAR Guy doesn’t know for sure. A better question — what does McAfee need to add to its portfolio?
