Managed Services Acquisition: Cogeco acquires Quiettouch

Cogeco Cable, a cable operator and telcom company serving Canada and Portugal, has acquired Quiettouch Inc., a  managed service provider in Toronto. The deal signals continued consolidation between telecom companies, managed services providers and cloud service providers.

Quiettouch offers managed services, data center services, network and fiber services and strategic outsourcing. In a prepared statement, Cogeco Cable President and CEO Louis Audet said the deal is “in line with our strategy of developing the business market. It also demonstrates our willingness to seize upon external growth opportunities in our Canadian footprint when they arise.”

Quiettouch will provide Cogeco clients with managed infrastructure and hosting, virtualization, firewall services, data backup with end-to-end monitoring and reporting.

This is the latest example of a cable and telecom company buying into the managed services and cloud services market. Earlier this year Verizon Business acquired Terremark and Time Warner Cable acquired NaviSite.
