Gateway Launching European Managed Services Business for VARs
Gateway, the PC industry veteran owned by Acer, has re-launched as a channel-only brand in Europe and is planning a managed services initiative for its channel partners.
Gateway has publicly disclosed plans to position itself as a business-focused PC brand in Europe. ZDNet UK offers some early details on that effort. But behind the curtains, Gateway has more than hardware ambitions. A trusted MSPmentor source says Gateway is planning a managed services push sometime — perhaps in April, May or June at the latest.
Already, Gateway has discussed some of the details with European press. According to The Channel Register:
Gateway Professional consists of three parts: the Gateway brand’s residual value in Europe, a restricted set of notebook, desktop and server products, and a specially-recruited channel which gets a remote management service to sell to its SME customers alongside the kit.
Gateway is the second major PC hardware supplier making managed services noise in Europe. Intel is quietly leveraging N-able‘s remote monitoring software to build a hosted managed service for VARs. The hosted Intel managed service, known as Multi-Site Director, will eventually blanket all of Europe. And it’s safe to say Dell will eventually take its direct and indirect managed services efforts to Europe.
