Accenture (ACN) and Salesforce.com (CRM) together have created the Accenture Connected Physician Solution that is designed to help life sciences companies improve customer and patient engagement by leveraging cloud, social and mobile technologies.

The Accenture Connected Physician Solution, which was unveiled at Dreamforce 2014 in San Francisco, enables healthcare professionals to access disease, treatment and product information. It is built on the Salesforce1 Platform and provides doctors with training and allows them to collaborate with peers in real-time.

Accenture added the solution is mobile-enabled across multiple platforms, which helps healthcare professionals access critical data whenever they need it.

“Remarkable changes are taking place today that are reshaping the life sciences landscape, and the entire industry is beginning to galvanize around delivering better patient outcomes in cost-effective ways,” Anne O’Riordan, global industry managing director for Accenture’s Life Sciences practice, said in a prepared statement. “Cloud platforms like Salesforce are providing an opportunity to link companies, physicians and patients in an ecosystem dedicated to improving health results.”

What does the Accenture Connect Physician Solution offer?

The Accenture Connect Physician Solution offers “an intelligent way to drive physician engagement,” according to Accenture.

This solution enables life sciences companies to collect data that they can use to better understand how to best serve their patients, and its features include:

  • Event calendar with automated reminders

  • iPad and iPhone capabilities

  • Integration with existing Veeva solutions

  • Multi-channel desktop and mobile support

  • On-demand product information

  • Push notifications of news articles that are tied to a physician’s interests/area of expertise

  • Video library with hosted educational and training videos

“This new solution is yet another example of how Accenture is leading the way in developing industry-specific solutions for our joint clients that deliver strong and compelling business value,” said Dan Streetman, Salesforce’s senior vice president of worldwide alliances and channels. “Accenture continues to play an important role in enabling businesses to create deeper connections with their customers with social, mobile and cloud technologies.”

The Accenture Connected Physician Solution also is certified by Salesforce as a Fullforce Industry Solution.
