Distribution Watch: Cloud Harmonics, Global Technology Distribution Council, Ingram Micro

Happy Thursday, and welcome to Distribution Watch. This week we’ve got the latest news from Cloud Harmonics and The Global Technology Distribution Council (GTDC) and Ingram Micro (IM).

Cloud Harmonics: Cloud Harmonics’ partner ecosystem can now sell iboss security’s entire solution portfolio thanks to a distribution agreement between the two companies.

The agreement will also give Cloud Harmonics’ resellers access to a series of iboss benefits including training, certifications and virtual sandboxing environments, according to the announcement.

“Our technical team was impressed by the iboss platform, as well as the tremendous growth and backing of iboss,” said Anand Desai, vice president of Marketing at Cloud Harmonics, in a statement. “We know our channel partners will be excited to offer their customers a solution that can protect them against the evasive threats hidden in their cloud environments.”

GTDC:  The GTDC will host its inaugural Distribution & Channel Business Baseline Session for vendors during the GTDC Summit in September, and is also launching a U.S. training program to help companies learn how best to leverage their distribution partnerships.

Both initiatives are part of the GTDC’s drive to meet vendor demand for better education around channel sales, according to the announcement.

“Technology distributors vet and sign hundreds of new vendor partners to their line cards each year,” said GTDC CEO Tim Curran said. “Many emerging companies struggle, however, to optimize distribution programs and activities simply because of inexperience. We’re taking steps to help them and our members connect in new ways that are mutually beneficial.”

Ingram Micro: Beginning immediately, Ingram Micro will begin distributing the Panasas ActiveStor product line, marking the first time that U.S. channel partners can buy Panasas’ network-attached storage (NAS) solutions directly through the distributor.

The deal is an expansion of the preexisting relationship between Panasas and Ingram Micro, which focused on transaction requirements of HP and Dell customers, according to the announcement.

“We are looking forward to working with Ingram Micro to identify new business opportunities and drive the adoption of our distinctive storage solution in the enterprise market,” said Jim Donovan, chief sales and marketing officer at Panasas. “Our value proposition is based on the unmatched combination of scalable performance and reliability, delivered in an easy-to-manage, cost-effective appliance; something that sets us apart from all competitors in the performance scale out market space.”

That’s all for this week, folks. We hope to see you back here next week, but until then, keep on distributing.
