Distribution Watch: Avnet, Jenne Inc., Tech Data
Greetings, and welcome to this week’s Distribution Watch, our weekly roundup of doings in the distribution space. This week we have news from Avnet (NYSE: AVT), Jenne Inc., and Tech Data (NASDAQ: TECD), so sit back, relax, grab a snack and let’s dig in.
Avnet: The Phoenix-based distribution giant has been named to Fortune magazines’ Global 500 list of the world’s largest corporations, coming in at No. 414. With $26.5 billion in sales in fiscal year 2011, Avnet appeared on this global list for the first time in its history.
Avnet earlier this year was listed at No. 108 on the 2012 Fortune 500 list of largest U.S. companies, and No. 1 on the 2012 Fortune’s World’s Most Admired Companies list in the Wholesaler: Electronics and Office Equipment category for the fourth year in a row.
Pretty impressive, if I may say.
Jenne Inc.: The networking and communications distributor has been lending a hand to Intelligent Enterprise Solutions (IES), a Maryland reseller that works with federal-focused accounts including the U.S. Marines, Lockheed Martin and federal integrator SAIC, to win bids that include Extreme Networks gear. That’s not an easy feat for a company that describes itself as a small business on its website.
“When you’re vying for projects for the Department of Defense, it can be a very competitive landscape,” said Todd Mower, federal sales rep at Intelligent Enterprise Solutions. “We all know that margins can be thin in this industry. Yet Jenne has offered pricing that’s competitive enough to capture jobs and keep those agencies coming back —while enabling us to retain respectable margins.”
Jenne, sounds like you’ve got an admirer.
