Distribution Watch: Arrow, Tech Data

It’s Friday the 13th, but lucky for you, it’s time for Distribution Watch, our weekly recap of what’s going on in the distribution space. This week we’ve got news from Arrow Electronics (ARW) and Tech Data (TECD), so sit back, cross your fingers and let's get started.

Arrow Electronics: dinCloud, a cloud services provider that offers business provisioning, has entered into a distribution agreement with Arrow Electronics, under which Arrow’s Enterprise Computing Solutions segment will market, sell and support dinCloud’s hosted virtual desktops, hosted virtual servers and cloud storage services via the ArrowSphere online marketplace.

Additionally, Arrow will offer dinCloud’s newest product offering, webHVD, a clientless web application extension that runs on Windows, Mac OS X, Linux or Chromebook endpoints that provides customers with a turnkey desktop.

Tech Data: The global distributor has received a perfect score of 100 percent on the 2014 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), a national benchmarking survey and report on corporate policies and practices related to LGBT workplace equality administered by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation. Tech Data joins the ranks of 303 major U.S. businesses which also earned top marks this year. This is the ninth consecutive year that Tech Data has received a 100 percent ranking.

"Tech Data is proud to earn a perfect score on the CEI for the ninth straight year, demonstrating our dedication and commitment to providing a diverse and inclusive community for our employees," said Caryl Lucarelli, vice president of Human Resources at Tech Data.

The 2014 CEI rated 934 businesses in the report, which evaluates LGBT-related policies and practices including non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive healthcare benefits, competency programs and public engagement with the LGBT community. Tech Data's efforts in satisfying all of the CEI's criteria resulting in a 100 percent ranking and the designation as a Best Place to Work for LGBT Equality.

The distributor also announced its partnership with Panduit, a global leader in Unified Physical Infrastructure-based solutions, to provide intelligent data center solutions to its channel of solution providers. Through the partnership, Panduit's physical infrastructure solutions are now available for purchase through Tech Data's Advanced Infrastructure Solutions (AIS) division. The announcement was made in conjunction with Tech Data's AIS Data Center and Security Solutions Partner Summit in St. Petersburg, Fla.

"We are pleased to enter into this key partnership with Panduit, which provides our channel of solution providers best-in-class products and pre-configured solutions that are strategically aligned with leading Tech Data vendor partners," said Chuck Bartlett, vice president and general manager, AIS Division at Tech Data. "Through this partnership, Panduit's intelligent data center offerings will give solution providers the opportunity to increase sales, improve profitability and differentiate themselves from competition. As part of the AIS division, Panduit provides reliable and scalable infrastructure that can be deployed across multiple technology platforms."

And that’s this week’s Distribution Watch. Check back next week to see what’s on the lineup. Until then, stay safe.
