Welcome to the start of the weekend! In this week’s Distribution Watch we’ve got stories from Arrow Electronics (ARW) and D&H Distributing.
Arrow: Arrow Electronics announced that it is now an authorized Lenovo System X distributor following the transition of IBM’s System X server business to Lenovo as of Oct. 1. Arrow is also authorized to sell Lenovo’s ThinkServer rack servers, tower servers and enterprise storage product lines to its channel partners. The distributor will continue to add new Lenovo products to its portfolio as they become available.
“As one of the largest System X distributors for IBM globally, Arrow is pleased to be able to continue offering System X to our channel community, and to extend the offering to include Lenovo ThinkServer and Lenovo storage,” said Mark Taylor, vice president of North American Servers, Systems and Software within Arrow’s Enterprise Computing Solutions segment, in a statement. “We look forward to supporting Lenovo in this capacity and introducing our solution provider community to Lenovo solutions and services.”
D&H: D&H is now offering the Intel Retail Client Manager (RCM) software, a customizable digital signage solution for point-of-sale, kiosk and vending displays in retail, health care, SMB and hospitality.
The solution comes equipped with an Audience Analytics application, which determines general demographic information, such as age and gender, for viewers as they stand in front of each screen. Organizations can use this information to customize the content displayed on each unit and tailor marketing to reflect individual customers, according to the company.
“RCM's analytic component lets users customize content to engage specific viewers and generate sales, which is a breakthrough capability," said Jeff Davis, senior vice president of Sales for D&H Distributing. "Its potential is extensive, since digital signage is already a pervasive presence in both public- and business-based establishments. It could result in a watershed of opportunity."
