Adobe (ADBE) has unveiled cloud solutions designed to help government agencies “transform citizen interaction.”

The computer software giant said its Government Cloud Solutions, which were announced today at the Adobe Digital Government Assembly in Washington, D.C., can promote collaboration between government agencies and citizens. Adobe noted that government agencies can use these solutions to develop better website content, and by doing so, bolster their citizen engagement levels.

“Adobe Government Cloud Solutions make it significantly easier for agencies to deploy digital government applications internally and externally,” John Landwehr, Adobe’s public sector chief technology officer, told Talkin’ Cloud.

Landwehr added that he believes providing Adobe’s cloud solutions to government agencies ultimately will allow these groups to “improve citizen engagement while streamlining operations and saving money.”

So how can government agencies leverage Adobe Government Cloud Solutions? Adobe pointed out that the New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) recently used the Adobe Experience Manager web content management system to provide citizens with real-time updates on road conditions and construction projects.

Several technology experts have predicted that many government agencies could leverage cloud solutions over the next few years as well.

For example, technology research firm Gartner recently said that many government agencies could demand “commercially provided” cloud services soon:

“Governments worldwide continue to pursue both public and private types of cloud services, but the focus is shifting from developing internal cloud services to allowing agencies to purchase commercially provided but governmentally restricted services … The main objectives pushing cloud adoption have been cost reduction, speed of procurement and deployment and responsiveness to regulations and needs for cost cutting. The public cloud is also gaining momentum as governments seek savings via consolidated procurement.”

Adobe noted that it is currently in the process of FedRAMP Agency Authorization. Upon final completion of this security assessment, the software company said its government cloud solutions “will be more easily adopted within the public sector.”
