ownCloud CEO Markus Rex founded the file hosting software company back in 2010 with Frank Karlitschek and Holger Dyroff. Their goal: bring secure file sync and share to businesses.

Prior to being responsible for day-to-day management at ownCloud, Rex served as senior vice president and general manager of Novell’s SUSE Linux Open Platform Solutions business unit. Before that, he worked as Novell’s CTO for Linux and in various engineering management roles at SUSE.
