MOBILE WORLD CONGRESS — Lenovo has rolled out a slew of new Lenovo ThinkPad and IdeaPad laptops and an enhanced IT support service. The PC giant unveiled the new laptops Sunday at the Mobile World Congress conference this week in Barcelona.

The new laptops will come with the latest processors from Intel and AMD. But Lenovo is also emphasizing how its newest systems advance the company’s focus on reducing carbon emissions. Tom Butler, executive director for Lenovo’s worldwide commercial portfolio and product management, said the company can now ship its products using bio-based aviation fuel.

“We’re using post-consumer content more and more in our devices,” Butler said during a media briefing. “We’re using more recycled magnesium and recycled aluminum in our systems. And across this year, we’re cutting into a completely plastic-free packaging across our lineup.”

The latest packing includes a bamboo sugarcane box, which Butler said, “is the most environmentally responsible material we could use, as it’s not only recyclable, it’s also rapidly compostable.”

Lenovo’s new ThinkPad Z13 will come with a new flax tier-top cover consisting of bio-based material from flax seeds. Lenovo integrated the flax seed cover into the Z13’s aluminum frame. The Z13 and the larger Z16 ThinkPads are Lenovo’s AMD processor models. The company claims it will deliver a 15% CPU performance improvement and a 20% integrated graphics performance boost.

Lenovo is also introducing redesigned X13 and X13 Yoga models of the ThinkPad with lighter chassis, thinner bezels and an improved webcam.

Enhanced Support Services

Building on Lenovo’s Premier Support services, the company is adding Premier Support Plus. According to Lenovo, Premier Support Plus provides access to the company’s top technicians and includes AI-based predictive device intelligence.

The Premier Support Plus option includes drive protection and an extended warranty on the battery of three years. The standard warranty only covers the battery for one year.
