Seven former Symantec channel leads have jumped ship and joined cybersecurity firm Comodo’s global channel and business development team.

Collectively, the team was the driving engine behind Symantec’s website security channel business, a unit that at one time represented about a quarter of the total revenue for the company’s website security business, Comodo said.

The new team members include:

  • John Siverd, senior director of worldwide channel

  • Ed Geise, strategic partnerships and alliances

  • Jonathan Skinner, channel partner programs and marketing leader

  • Dave Snakenborg, strategic partnerships and alliances

  • Ken Stoddart, global business development

  • Dan Marfione, strategic partnerships and alliances

  • James Dalton, global sales and business development manager, strategic channel partners

“We believe Symantec’s governance and compliance problems over the past two years, which came to a head recently, made it difficult for the channel to do business with Symantec,” said Michael Fowler, Comodo’s president. “All seven started with Comodo over a period of three months. One executive had left some time ago. Thanks to our recent innovations we are going to be channeling a lot more cybersecurity spending through our channel partners.”

The team will work to bring Comodo cWatch Web – a managed security service for websites and applications – to market through the channel.

cWatch Web will be available to partners in the coming months.

“Comodo’s DNA is about empowering the channel,” Fowler said. “As we build more and more innovation, which in turn drives more and more business through the channel, we need to expand our channel team leadership to continue the enablement of our products and services with our channel partners.”
