Security-as-a-service provider Proofpoint has launched Proofpoint Security and Compliance Suite for Office 365, which was designed to provide customers with advanced threat protection, global regulatory compliance and comprehensive ediscovery features for organizations migrating to the popular cloud-based office productivity suite.

According to the company, enterprises are facing more risk every day as attackers launch ever more sophisticated attacks, and the new Office 365 cloud security service is intended to help protect customers in three key areas:

  • Using Proofpoint Enterprise Protection and Proofpoint Targeted Attack Protection, organizations can get protection against advanced threats attacking their email, as well as from spear-phishing attacks and zero-day malware. To combat the threats, Proofpoint’s solutions use dynamic malware analysis and Big Data analytics.

  • Proofpoint Enterprise Privacy provides customers with global regulatory compliance features that automatically and accurately identify a variety of sensitive data, including credit card numbers, government IDs and healthcare records. It enables administrators to more easily secure communications and comply with compliance regulations such as HIPAA, GLBA and PCI based on a central policy.

  • Proofpoint Enterprise Archive takes on the issue of comprehensive ediscovery needs, enhancing legal discovery with rapid search insight, legal hold capabilities and granular retention policies. Enterprises can also segregate legal holds by group and geography, as well as prevent end users from deleting sensitive data. It also covers social network content and non-Microsoft document types.

“Advanced phishing attacks and continued data loss have made email the number one threat vector and compliance concern facing most enterprises,” said David Knight, executive vice president and general manager for Information Security Products at Proofpoint, in a prepared statement. “The new Proofpoint Security and Compliance Suite for Microsoft Office 365 provides the additional layer of advanced threat protection and compliance functionality that enterprises running on Office 365 need to stop phishing attacks and comply with global regulations. This enables organizations of all sizes to take full advantage of the benefits of Office 365 without sacrificing security or compliance.”

At the same time, Proofpoint expanded its Proofpoint Affiliate Program for Microsoft Partners with the new Office 365 security solution in mind. The vendor is targeting partners who are working with customers to migrate them to Office 365. Read more about the expanded program at our sister site, The VAR Guy.
