Palisade Systems Launches Updated PacketSure DLP Solution

When we last checked in on Palisade Systems, its DLP solutions were being applied to the healthcare vertical. Now, the company is building on its DLP momentum with an update to its flagship DLP appliance PacketSure, with endpoint protection for SMBs. Read on for the details …

Palisade PacketSure DLP 8.5 comes with a modest update, but one that’s needed. DLP 8.5 focuses squarely around the latest in Palisade’s endpoint perimeter monitoring software, which can stop, protect or simply monitor data copied off company computers and on to CDs, DVDs, USB drives or FireWire devices. DLP 8.5 comes with all the real-time checking in the earlier versions, but with some enhancements that make sure unencrypted e-mail doesn’t contain credit card numbers, confidential information or even medical records.

That content-aware DLP endpoint protection is also being supplemented by a new SafeSearch technology, which blocks adult content from search engine results, and a new CMS (centralized management and reporting system) that allows the PacketSure appliance to receive URL lists and/or updates right from the CMS, directly from Palisade. It’s a faster process and it relieves a company’s network infrastructure from having to manually download and apply updates.

Currently, Palisade’s level of granular scanning allows for DLP 8.5 to meet all the compliance requirements for PII/PHI for HIPAA/HITECH, GLB, SOX and PCI DSS, according to the company. Interested? Bigger picture? As Palisade Systems builds momentum, we’ll keep track of how it stacks up against better-known companies such as Symantec, which currently provides similar technology though the channel.
