New Adtran Program Helps VARs Become MSPs

It’s a platform of managed services that includes a turnkey model and the flexibility of a partner-branded option.

A new program from Adtran, the networking and communications equipment provider, gives value-added resellers (VARs) the opportunity to transform into managed service providers (MSPs.)

It’s called Adtran ProCloud. It’s a platform of managed services that includes a turnkey model and the flexibility of a partner-branded option. Adtran says this duality streamlines a path for its partners to quickly launch cloud-managed services and transform their business models – reducing deployment times and helping them become more competitive with a recurring revenue model.

“With the explosion of mobility and related network applications, demands on enterprise networks continue to intensify. Simultaneously, SMBs, schools, universities and other distributed enterprises are increasingly challenged to provision, troubleshoot and maintain more sophisticated wireless networks with reduced IT staffs. These organizations are looking to offload some of this burden, presenting a tremendous opportunity for VARs,” said Nolan Greene, research analyst for IDC’s Network Infrastructure Group. “VARs are a trusted member of the IT community, and a comprehensive cloud-managed services platform enables them to easily expand into new markets, build upon strong existing customer relationships and transform their business models and revenue potential.”

Adtran ProCloud was launched with a managed Wi-Fi model used by VARs to increase business within the SMB and enterprise markets, as well as a number of verticals. With a viable managed service option, Adtran says customers can opt out of the high upfront capital costs of a broad Wi-Fi deployment, quickly meet user needs and rapidly scale deployments as demand increases — all without requiring additional internal IT resources. ADTRAN’s VAR partners will be able to layer additional, industry-specific services – security and content filtering, for example – on top of the managed Wi-Fi service to generate additional value and revenue, the company said.

“Exponential growth in traffic is putting more and more stress on network operations and management. At the same time, IT departments are rethinking how their networks could be leaner and better managed. Adtran ProCloud turns this challenge into an opportunity for VARs, simplifying their ability to support reliable, scalable networks,” said Ted Cole, Adtran’s vice president of channel sales.
