GreenSQL has announced a softwarebased database security solution for Amazon Web Services AWS
GreenSQL has announced a software-based database security solution for Amazon Web Services (AWS).

Unified database security solutions provider GreenSQL has unveiled a new Amazon Web Services (AWS) firewall.

The company yesterday introduced GreenSQL for AWS, a database firewall and compliance solution that adds security and auditing functionality to AWS databases.

GreenSQL for AWS provides security, database activity monitoring (DAM) and dynamic data masking, according to the company.

The solution also evaluates commands sent to AWS databases in real-time, regardless of the request’s source.

“We architected the GreenSQL database security solution to give customers additional layers of security for their databases running on AWS,” GreenSQL CEO Amir Sadeh said in a prepared statement. “We deliver comprehensive real-time interception of malicious and inadvertent threats, while also allowing developers and contractors to perform their duties without ever gaining access to sensitive or protected information.”

Other GreenSQL for AWS features include:

  • Automatic sensitive data discovery

  • Built-in compliance reports

  • Column-based access control

  • Database monitoring for activity performed by administrators

GreenSQL noted the solution can help organizations protect their sensitive data from several potential insider threats, such as:

  • Business partners

  • Contractors

  • Employees

No AWS software installation is required, GreenSQL said, and the solution supports all customer applications as well.

GreenSQL for AWS is available via subscription on the AWS Marketplace.

“By offering their software via subscription on the AWS Marketplace, GreenSQL gives customers an easy way to manage their database security,” said Terry Hanold, AWS’s vice president of cloud commerce.
