Mailprotector has hired ex-Datto channel sales exec Matt Scully to fill the newly created position of senior channel development manager.

Mailprotector’s Matt Scully

Scully has extensive channel and sales experience. He will help develop and manage key aspects of the company’s partner programs and activities in 2020 and beyond. Scully assumes the channel chief role formerly filled by Ted Roller of GetChanneled.

The duo are working closely on a transition plan; they say they expect to complete a successful handoff in the coming weeks.

Mailprotector goes to market through MSPs, VARs, ISV and VADs.

Here’s our list of channel people on the move in May.

“I’m thrilled to drive channel engagement for a channel-exclusive company with cutting-edge technologies that allow MSPs to make great margins,” Scully said. “After talking with [co-founder and CEO] David Setzer and the Mailprotector management team, I knew this would be that perfect position. With an email security and encryption program built exclusively for the MSP community, I expect great things for our partners. And I am looking forward to helping our partners deal with the lasting ramifications of the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Experience at Datto

At Datto, Scully was channel development manager and growth sales representative. There, he helped Datto’s MSP partners meet their clients’ data storage and security needs.

“We talked to a lot of very qualified people, but in the end, no one could come close to Matt’s connection with the partner community and ability to articulate their needs into our organization,” Setzer said. “We are [a] 100% channel company, so if our partners don’t win, we don’t win. And we needed a respected and experienced industry professional who knows what it takes for our partners to succeed. Matt fits that description perfectly.”

Mailprotector provides cloud-based email security services. The company’s portfolio includes a patented email encryption application, inbound and outbound email filtering, email archiving and commercial-grade hosted email solutions.

In March, Mailprotector said it raised $5 million in growth equity funding from Ballast Point Ventures (BPV). As a result, the company is using the funding to accelerate product development, grow sales and marketing efforts, and expand services to its network of MSPs.
