XO Launches MPLS IP VPN

Channel Partners Conference & Expo sponsor XO Communications (Booths 107-109) announced the introduction of XO MPLS IP VPN, the carriers new network-based IP VPN that lets businesses and large enterprises put their voice, video and data applications on one MPLS-enabled IP network infrastructure.

Available in 75 major metropolitan markets across the United States, the fully managed service connects offices, partners and customers. It prioritizes and supports Internet, intranet, extranet, voice, video and other business applications, XO said.

With the launch of XO MPLS IP VPN, were expanding our IP solutions to offer more intelligent and more efficient networking services to businesses that need to improve communications between employees, customers and partners, said Tom Cady, president of XO Business Services. XO MPLS IP VPN allows businesses to simplify network management and introduce a wide range of new applications and capabilities all over a single, converged IP network.

XO MPLS IP VPN also can be used to integrate different traffic types from existing legacy networks, including frame relay, onto one network as enterprises transition to a converged IP communications infrastructure. The service further offers a range of access options; customers can use it with dedicated Internet access at speeds from T1 through OCx and Ethernet services.

XO provides network designs based on customers network topology, applications and other WAN requirements. The company also can supply, install and maintain CPE and assign bandwidth for applications based on four classes of service: real time, for latency- and jitter-sensitive applications; critical, for applications that can withstand higher latency and jitter, but still need guarantees on both; priority, for applications that need to take priority, but are not susceptible to variations in latency or jitter; and standard, for applications that can withstand moderate-to-high variations in latency or jitter.
