Telx Partners With Master Agent Telarus for Interconnection

By Doug Allen

Interconnection and colocation provider Telx has signed up master agent Telarus for colocation services, and as a channel partner. Telarus singled out Telxs high-uptime, redundant interconnection capabilities in two Dallas locations that are particularly attractive to Telarus, providing Gigabit Ethernet connectivity to 210 ISPs, carriers and service providers, thus lowering the total cost of entry to the lucrative market, while also stressing the benefits to independent agents of leveraging Telxs inter-carrier connectivity and colocation reach across its North American footprint. In return, Telarus will act as a nonexclusive national sales and marketing partner for Telx.

Telx is one of the emerging Ethernet Exchanges, like CENX and Equinix, that has been coming on strong of late, providing interconnection, collocation and business exchange services across 15 facilities throughout North America. It provides carrier-neutral peering points for more than 800 service providers, ISPs, content providers and businesses. Moreover, the company is actively building its agent base through a three-tier partner program: the Referral Partner Program, the Agent Partner Program and the Alliance Partner Program, which includes an advanced training program, marketing services and access to dedicated partner support.

Telarus focuses on independent commercial telecom brokers by working with premier carriers and providing commission incentives, as well as support and marketing tools to grow carrier sales. The master agent says it stands out with its GeoQuote tool a real-time quote engine that delivers near-instant pricing for transactional services, allowing sales staff to get accurate cost projections for larger, more complex customer implementations.

Telx provides carrier-neutral, connection-rich interconnection services in their two Dallas-based data centers, allowing us to be one cross-connect away from a secure, direct connection to carriers and ISPs within the Telx ecosystem, said Andrew Morgan, director of IT for Telarus. Because we are colocation customers, we can confidently offer Telexs services in all 15 of its locations to our own customers.

By enabling direct interconnect with myriad provider networks and their service portfolios, Telarus can offer a wider menu of services, assembling multi-vendor, best-of-breed network solutions among providers that best suit their customers needs, especially those are linked up with network-to-network interfaces that can maintain QoS and security requirements across network boundaries.

This strategic channel partnership will give Telarus Agents a competitive differentiator and will also provide their business communications customers with secure, direct access to our global marketplace of service providers, while keeping connectivity costs low, said William Kolman, vice president of Sales for Telx.
