Riverbed Technology has hired a new channel chief.
The WAN optimization provider said this week Karl Meulema has joined as senior vice president of global channels. He succeeds Randy Schirman, who now works for Talari Networks. Meulema’s job is to help partners drive Riverbed product adoption.
Meulema comes from Avaya, where he was vice president of global services and partners. Before that, he served in a number of executive roles at Cisco, including as senior vice president of global strategy and operations.
Meulema joins Riverbed as the company faces intense shareholder pressure to improve its financials. In early October, Riverbed said it will restructure and try to cut costs. It also lowered its third-quarter outlook, predicting as much as less than $19 million in revenue than originally thought.
