CoreConnex Intensifies Focus on MSP Business Intelligence

CoreConnex develops a financial dashboard for small business VARs and MSPs (managed services providers). But listen closely to CoreConnex CEO Frank Coker, and you'll hear a strategy that will potentially transform CoreConnex into more of a business intelligence company that helps solutions providers to track their performance vs. the overall managed services market.

"We'll make every effort to be the Switzerland of BI in the MSP space," said Coker during call yesterday. The idea is pretty simple -- but potentially powerful. CoreConnex is partnering with the major PSA software providers, integrating with Autotask, ConnectWise and Tigerpaw Software. Also, CoreConnex is working to track how MSPs leverage RMM (remote monitoring and management) software, gathering information about endpoint device mix and other endpoint trends. Plus, CoreConnex expects to study profitability on a line-of-business basis.

The CoreConnex effort involves partnerships with a range of companies -- including CompTIA, the Computing Technology Industry Association. Specifically, CompTIA is underwriting an effort for 100 solutions providers to leverage CoreConnex's software.

When it comes to BI and MSP market intelligence, CoreConnex isn't alone. Service Leadership Inc., for one, works with a range of VARs and MSPs to measure partner profitability and other industry metrics. Not by coincidence, Service Leadership CEO Paul Dippell and CoreConnex CEO Frank Coker together have hosted profitability seminars at major MSP events.
