Where’s The VAR Guy This Week?: April 8-12, 2013
The VAR Guy may surface at three separate channel partner conferences and technology events this week. Among the events worth watching: Ingram Micro Cloud Summit in Phoenix, Ariz.; Microsoft Management Summit 2013 in Las Vegas; and Tech Data Channel Link in Orlando, Fla. Here’s why.
All three events are on The VAR Guy’s Top 100 Channel Partner Events and conferences to watch for 2013. The reasoning:
- Ingram Micro Cloud (NYSE:IM) has emerged as one of the channel’s best-known cloud brokerage and cloud aggregation services (for a list of cloud services brokerages, check out www.TalkinCloud.com/CSB). The idea is to give VARs and MSPs a single dashboard to source, manage and profit from cloud applications. Rival distributors have been launching similar services, but Ingram hopes to go deeper in several areas this year — particularly telco services, from what The VAR Guy has heard. Primary Coverage This Week: Talkin’ Cloud.
- Microsoft Management Summit 2013 (NASDAQ:MSFT) attracts corporate IT managers, but smart VARs and MSPs also are in the house. Rod Trent, a new addition to the Penton Media team, runs myITforum and has heard some interesting chatter about the future of Windows Intune and Microsoft System Center. Let’s just paint them both Blue right now, shall we? Primary Coverage This Week: MSPmentor.
- Tech Data Channel Link (NASDAQ:TECD) will generate plenty of chatter about mobility, cloud services, the consumerization of IT, Big Data and more. The VAR Guy will be listening closely to learn how Tech Data’s VARs are evolving their sales compensation programs to address new market realities. Primary Coverage: The VAR Guy.
