Qualys Provides Free Asset Inventory Service for Customers

For companies with multiple agent-based IT solutions, it can be difficult and time-consuming to sort through systems on an individual basis, especially when resources and personnel are scarce. Cloud security provider Qualys (QLYS) is looking to help customers eliminate some of the headaches associated with searching for information within their IT assets with the launch of Qualys AssetView, a free cloud-based asset inventory service.
Qualys AssetView was designed to allow companies to search their agent-based deployments quickly, with real-time inventory management so that administrators can keep tabs on changes within their organization, according to the announcement. The service is also capable of scanning and monitoring assets within virtual environments.
The rapid growth of virtualization and mobile solutions has created a wealth of new endpoints on enterprise networks, which can lead to potential security breaches and ways for bad actors to infiltrate corporate systems, according to Qualys. By utilizing the Qualys Cloud Agent Platform to scan for security and compliance issues the company expects AssetView users to have a better grasp on how their systems are operating so they can mitigate potential risks.
“The increasing number of IT assets, explosion of endpoint devices and escalating threat landscape is dramatically complicating enterprise IT and security,” said Philippe Courtot, chairman and CEO of Qualys, in a statement. “IT and Security professionals have the daunting task of ensuring that all assets are up-to-date, compliant and secure. With the release of AssetView, we’re providing visibility into global IT assets and arming professionals with the information they need to keep those assets secure.”
Qualys AssetVIew was released this week during Black Hat USA, a convention for security professionals held in Las Vegas. Interested customers can download the Asset Inventory Service for free through the company’s website.
