NetProspex: A Potential Customer Prospecting System for MSPs?
NetProspex Inc. recently launched version 5.0 of its business contacts sharing system. NetProspex claims to be the largest business-to-business cooperative in North America. According to Chief Revenue Officer Michael Bird, the website has tens of thousands of users who have uploaded nearly 100 million contacts. So, is this a potential lead generation and prospecting system for MSPs? Here are some thoughts.
Most contact management systems are only 40 to 50 percent accurate, claim Bird and Strategic Account Executive Ryan Quinn. In stark contrast, NetProspex claims to leverage a “proprietary set of algorithms” to decide whether records are complete, bad or inaccurate. The system evaluates the contacts as soon as users upload them. Then, NetProspex gives each contact an accuracy score that users can see when sorting through contacts and choosing the ones they want. “If you buy a million contacts, you’ll get a million, accurate contacts,” claims Bird. That’s because, while it’s impossible to guarantee 100 percent accuracy on all contacts, NetProspex will give users another contact credit if one is found to be inaccurate.
NetProspex’s system allows users to filter their contact search by keyword, industry, job function, location (within the United States and Canada), company names and people names. The newest version of the system lets users further filter by standard industrial code (SIO) and company size.
Users can download business card-like contacts from the website by accumulating “credits” in one of two ways: paying for them or uploading contacts of their own. Users receive one contact credit for each accurate contact they upload. Most users don’t trade contacts. Instead, they buy them based on either volume tiers or a monthly subscription, according to Quinn.
The newest version of NetProspex is a cloud-based, social networking-style system. We’ll be watching to see if it becomes a prospecting system for MSPs and VARs.
