Managed Services: December Revenue Looking Good?
While the broader IT channel struggles, an overwhelming 65 percent of managed service providers say they expect their December 2008 managed services revenue to increase compared to December 2007, according to an MSPmentor reader poll.
I have to admit: I wonder if our readers were trying to be overly upbeat in order to offset all the negative economic news. And the poll wasn’t scientific. But here’s a breakdown of the answers.
Question: Your December 2008 managed services revenue will be:
- Much better than than December 2007 (27%)
- Slightly better than December 2007 (38%)
- About the same as December 2007 (19%)
- Slightly worse than December 2007 (4%)
- Much worse than December 2007 (12%)
It’s good to hear such strong enthusiasm from readers (102 participated in the online poll; we launch a new one each Monday). But we’re also careful not to hype managed services. The MSP trend will NOT lift all boats.
Even if you select the most ideal MSP tools, the most difficult part for MSPs is building successful sales, marketing and branding efforts.
We’ll share more about MSP sales and revenue trends when we unveil our latest MSPmentor 100 research report in early 2009. The deadline to participate in the research is December 18. Visit our MSPmentor 100 center for more information.
