LenovoEMC Rebrands Iomega Consumer, Network Storage Line

LenovoEMC, the joint venture formed in August 2012 to pair EMC‘s (EMC) Iomega entry-level network-attached storage (NAS) arrays with Lenovo‘s ThinkServer product lines, has rebranded the Iomega lineup of consumer and business storage products.

In noting the rebranding, the partnership made certain to pay the proper respects to Iomega’s history, listing a number of the iconic company’s accomplishments since its inception in 1980, including:

  • Sold more than 430 million digital storage drives and disks

  • Granted more than 150 patents

  • The original Iomega Zip Drive marked a quantum leap in portable storage when it debuted in 1995

  • Launched its first network storage product in 2003

  • As of May 2013, more than 110,000 personal clouds had been created using Iomega network storage solutions

The former Iomega-branded network storage products are available worldwide with new branding, according to LenovoEMC. The Iomega market will still be used only on entry-level consumer network storage products.

“The LenovoEMC joint venture is based upon the success of the Iomega network storage solutions business and our plan at Lenovo to develop a unified storage platform within Lenovo’s Enterprise Product Group,” said Roy Guillen, Lenovo Enterprise Product Group vice president.

“With the transition from the highly successful standalone Iomega brand to the power of the combined Lenovo and EMC brands, our Lenovo network storage solutions from the LenovoEMC joint venture will continue to evolve in features and capabilities as world-class network storage that complements server products from the Lenovo Enterprise Product Group,” he said.

Lenovo’s rebranded consumer network storage solutions (and the former Iomega brand) include:

  • Lenovo Iomega EZ Media and Backup Center (formerly the Iomega EZ Media and Backup Center)

  • Lenovo Iomega ix series of network storage products (formerly the Iomega StorCenter ix series):

    • Lenovo Iomega ix2-300d Network Storage

    • Lenovo Iomega ix4-300d Network Storage

Lenovo’s rebranded high-performance professional network storage products (formerly known as the Iomega StorCenter px series) include:

  • LenovoEMC px2-300d Network Storage

  • LenovoEMC px4-300d Network Storage

  • LenovoEMC px6-300d Network Storage

  • LenovoEMC px4-300r Network Storage Array

  • LenovoEMC px12-400r Network Storage Array

  • LenovoEMC px12-450r Network Storage Array

LenovoEMC also said that backup and disaster recovery provider Acronis will supply its True Image 2013 Lite PC backup software with certain Lenovo network storage gear. The Lenovo EMC px Series will now come equipped with three licenses for ATI Lite per product. In certain geographies, Lenovo Iomega ix Series products will include a single license. Acronis has also made available special pricing for additional licenses and upgrades for Lenovo network storage customers.
