IoE AllSeen Alliance Gains 10 New Members

Internet of Everything (IoE) consortium AllSeen Alliance has gained 10 new members, including AT&T Digital Life, Affinegy, GOWEX, iControl Networks, Kii, Muzzley, Patavina Technologies, 2lemetry, Tuxera and Vestel Group, bringing its total number of participants to 35 entities. The membership spans consumer electronics manufacturers, home appliance makers, service providers, retailers, enterprise technology companies, startups and chipset manufacturers.

The Alliance, which formed last December with 24 initial members and is backed by the Linux Foundation, is anchored by Qualcomm’s (QCOM) AllJoyn open source device detection technology. Members are collaborating on an open software framework to allow all manner of objects to communicate with each other regardless of brand, transport layer, platform or operating system.

Here’s some details on the new members:

  • AT&T Digital Life is an all-digital, IP-based, fully integrated, wireless home security and automation service.

  • 2lemetry has developed a platform architecture that allows for native support of multiple protocols, making protocol interoperability at all levels possible.

  • Affinegy provides a software platform that securely enables entertainment, information, smart/safe home, and energy management services to be distributed between the cloud and connected devices within the home or business.

  • Gowex is a Wi-Fi “smart cities” provider, offering free and premium Wi-Fi connectivity on the street and on public transportation.

  • iControl Networks provides software solutions to power home management and security, integrating interactive home security, home monitoring and control, energy management and home health care.

  • Kii works with mobile developers to maximize revenue, gain global distribution and turn their apps into full-time businesses.

  • Muzzley offers developers’ libraries and SDKs as well as a cloud middleware service that extends machine-to-machine connections to humans through their smartphones.

  • Patavina Technologies combines 6LoWPAN and Wi-Fi protocols, allowing objects of every kind to be reached and controlled via an IP network.

  • Tuxera develops wireless media streaming technology, which allows users to interact with different devices in the network and stream media from local and online sources.

  • Vestel Group consists of 27 companies operating in consumer electronics, mobile technologies, household appliances, professional displays LED lighting and defense industries.

Among the 24 initial members, seven companies—Haier, LG Electronics, Panasonic, Qualcomm, Sharp, Silicon Image (SIMG) and TP-Link—ponied up the $300,000 Premier membership fee, a figure that drops by $50,000 for the yearly dues thereafter. Media and entertainment provider Technicolor recently joined as a Premier member.

The 17 original Community members—Canary, Cisco Systems (CSCO), D-Link, doubleTwist, Fon, Harman (HAR), HTC, Letv, LIFX, Lite-on, Moxtreme, Musaic, Sears (SHLD), Sproutling, The Sprosty Network, Weaved and Wilocity—anted up between $5,000 and $50,000 to join based on the size of the organization—figures that also apply to the new entries.
