HostingCon: Five Cloud Services Trends for MSPs
When Boston HostingCon 2012 starts July 16, numerous managed services industry leaders will be on hand. But what should MSPs expect from conference, which is rapidly expanding beyond traditional hosting services to cover managed services and cloud services? Here are five clues…
1. Cloud Storage Chatter: Companies like Asigra, Intronis, Nirvanix and Vembu (just to name a few) will describe multiple cloud storage strategies for MSPs. The discussion will include MSPs that host cloud storage software on their own, and smaller channel partners, including VARs, that white label such services.
2. Microsoft Office Meets VDI: As Microsoft Office 15 nears launch, listen for partners like LuxCloud, nGenX and OS33 to discuss how Office in the VDI (virtual desktop infrastructure) market will evolve.
3. Dell Steals the Spotlight: It looks like Hewlett-Packard and IBM are skipping HostingCon, leaving Dell as the only major server hardware company with a big presence at the conference (I think…). But Dell will have a tricky time with messaging — promoting Dell PowerEdge C Servers to cloud builders and MSPs, even as Dell builds out its own cloud.
4. Cloud Aggregator Services: Ingram Micro Cloud Assistant Director Pierre-Olivier Descoteaux will describe potential cloud business models to MSPs, VARs and other attendees. You can bet Descoteaux will discuss cloud aggregator services — which allow MSPs to become cloud brokers, offering a range of cloud services to end-customers.
That’s all for now. Back soon with more updates from HostingCon.
