Cisco Partners Ready to Master Marketing

The VAR Guy is turning into a snowbird. The native New Yorker spent last week in sunny Orlando, riding some of the world’s best roller coasters. Next week, we hear, he plans to return to Florida — this time for a major Cisco Systems channel event that will boast several surprising twists.

The event won’t be your typical geek fest. During the December 2-4 gathering in Miami, Cisco plans to empower a couple hundred VARs and integrators with marketing and PR tips for their businesses.

Instead of filling the stage with talking Cisco heads, the networking giant is bringing in some third-party marketing gurus. Confirmed speakers, The VAR Guy hears, include a top marketing expert from the National Football League as well as the head of new media marketing for Universal Studios Orlando.

Hmmm. Wasn’t The VAR Guy hanging out with a bunch of Universal theme park executives a few days ago? How did he get his hands on the event’s agenda before it was publicly disclosed? Stay tuned. The VAR Guy will be blogging live from Miami starting December 2.
