Cisco Names Partner Marketing VP to Succeed Luanne Tierney
Cisco Systems Inc. announced multiple changes to its Worldwide Partner Organization today. Among the moves that warrants a closer look: Cisco has named Amanda Jobbins as VP of partner marketing, succeeding Luanne Tierney, who left to join Juniper earlier this year. Here’s some insight on the move.
According to a blog post from Cisco’s Keith Goodwin:
To continue innovating in our partner marketing efforts, Amanda Jobbins will lead Partner Marketing as Vice President. The new Partner Marketing organization led by Amanda will now be under the Cisco Global Marketing organization, and Amanda will report directly to Blair Christie, our Chief Marketing Officer. Amanda will also be an active member of my senior leadership team. I strongly believe this structure will allow us to simplify how you work with us, and most importantly, will ensure additional marketing investments in you, our Partners.
Sources say Jobbins lived in Europe but is relocating to California as part of this new position. And as Goodwin noted: Jobbins reports directly to Chief Marketing Officer Blair Christie — a clear sign that Cisco is serious about raising the visibility of its partner marketing efforts.
Still, Jobbins has considerable shoes to fill. Former VP of Partner Marketing Luanne Tierney created the Cisco Partner Velocity conference and other initiatives that trained Cisco partners in such areas as marketing, sales and social media. In short, Tierney offered some non-traditional content to partners. Some of her events contained no mention of Cisco’s products, instead focusing on the nuts-and-bolts of successful business growth. Numerous Cisco partners respected Tierney for that approach.
Now at Juniper, Tierney is part of a team that’s planning Juniper’s first global partner marketing conference.
In the meantime, The VAR Guy hopes to check in with Jobbins soon to learn more about her goals and priorities for Cisco partner marketing.
