Blizzard Warning to Kaspersky Lab: Don’t Rush Home
Kaspersky Lab picked the perfect week to avoid the perfect storm. The security software company is rallying channel partners today in Cancun, Mexico. Many Kaspersky Lab employees on hand, including Senior VP Chris Doggett, live near the Boston area — which is dealing with Nemo, a winter snow storm that has Nor’easter and Blizzard strength. So what are the hot topics at Kaspersky Partner Summit — one of The VAR Guy’s Top 100 Channel Partner conferences? Here’s a recap.
Ahead of the conference, Kaspersky held a security summit in New York, where CEO Eugene Kaspersky warned that cyber warfare threatens to take down transportation, power and communication systems. His company is working on a cyber secure operating system to protect mission critical infrastructure. The company also launched Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Business, which blends anti-virus, encryption, mobile device management and systems management capabilities.
So what’s new this week? The company said its latest partner program enhancements include:
- New Rewards: Effective now through March 31, 2013, Kaspersky Lab is doubling its incentive payments on all Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Business, Advanced and Total platform sales.
- SE2SE Program Revamp: Kaspersky Lab’s SE2SE program, a monthly education series on advanced topics, now rewards technical champions who influence sales. Rewards range from $25 to $200 per deal.
- Lead-Gen Programs: In 2013, Kaspersky Lab is placing a priority on lead generation. As this engine ramps up in Q1, the company expects to see more than a 300 percent increase in lead generation over Q1, 2013.
- Video Assets: The Kaspersky Lab Americas YouTube pagehas multiple assets to empower partners.
Although Kaspersky Lab remains in growth mode, the company has also undergone changes. Channel veterans like Nancy Reynolds and Jean Lozano exited the company in 2012. But organic growth apparently continues. And the mood sounded upbeat ahead of the partner conference.
You might even say The VAR Guy is a bit envious. Amid the celebration in Cancun, The VAR Guy is shoveling snow back in New York.
