Aerohive Releases Free Wi-Fi Planning Tool

Are you stuck plotting out how many wireless access points your customers’ enterprise, SMB or mansion needs? Aerohive says it has a solution for that. It’s a Wi-Fi planner that helps make the most of your money and plot out where 802.11n hotspots should live. Here’s the scoop…

Quick refresher: Aerohive is known for their wireless LAN architecture networking and optimization. Their latest and greatest in the foray of wireless connections is the Online Wi-Fi Planer Web Application. It’s simple: just upload a floor plan, draw out the perimeter and walls, and the app does the rest.

The new version of this free offering will provide a more easy to use user interface, and automatically detect the best places for an access point, the company claims. You can also input what kind of access point you want (n, g, b) signal strength and manually place access points. Aerohive’s web app shows the anticipated signal strength in a topographical red-to-blue temperature of signal quality.

Lastly, this new version of Wi-Fi Planner will  be included in Aerohive’s new HiveManager 3.5 for free.
