N-able Roadmap: Mac Support, MDM Reports, Reactive Management

N-able Technologies LogoN-able executives offered detailed insight into the RMM vendor's product roadmap during this week's Global Partner Summit in Montreal. While 2011 and 2012 focused on integration with third party products, 2013 will focus on improvements to the company's core product line, according to CEO Gavin Garbutt. The highlights include support for Mac clients, the integration of Bitdefender for security, and by the end of 2013 something the company is are calling reactive management support -- an extension of the N-central platform to encompass break/fix work. (N-able also announced Report Manager integration with PSA vendor platforms from Autotask and ConnectWise.) Here's a quick look at some of the details.

Garbutt and N-able President and Chief Operating Officer JP Jauvin told me that the new reactive management support would increase the speed of resolving reactive management issues from 5 minutes to 30 seconds. It would accomplish this by instantly giving the technician a snapshot of the problem before the end-user even explained the problem.  The functionality would therefore bring some of the automation available with N-central to reactive break/fix issues.

Here are some of the other improvements scheduled for the next year. Of course, executives cautioned that the roadmap can change according to user needs so the following information is not a guarantee of delivery times.

N-central 9.1 SP1 will arrive in the first half of 2012, offering support for the Mac device class.  (While many MSPs in the keynote address audience applauded at the Mac support, others I spoke with said they fhadn't seen big customer interest in Macs. The exceptions continued to be in government and education. Of course, this is only anecdotal and reflects the subset of partners I was able to speak to during the summit.)

Report Manager 4.0, SP1 will arrive in the first half of 2012. This update will add support for MDM data, improved platform compatibility, better performance (by 40 to 80 percent) and PSA enhancements based on feedback of the PSA integration beta.

In the second half of 2013, N-able partners can expect N-central 9.2. This will include Bitdefender Anti-virus integration, hosted patch management including integrated third party patch and a lo cart patch with Essentials; updates to Automation Manager, CentOS and Red Hat 6.x Server; Linux agent push via Probe, scheduled tasks execution priority, self healing additions, custom services for hosted N-central and custom services for hosted Discovery Jobs.

N-central 9.2 SP1 will bring Active Directory user password reset, an integrated system tray and new N-central asset reports.

Report Manager 4.1 will feature new executives summaries strategy, work/effort reporting, hosted partners support and more PSA enhancements.

Towards the end of 2013, partners can expect to see N-central 10.0 which will include reactive management support, and Report Manager 4.2 with analytics in Excel, customizable Runbook and a configuration audit report.
