MSPs that use remote monitoring and management vendor N-able’s N-central platform to run the technology side of their businesses will be converging on Montreal next week for the company’s Global Partner Summit, and I’ll be there with them to report on the latest news and trends from the company and its MSPs. But you don’t have to wait until next week to learn what the big topics will be. I spoke with CEO Gavin Garbutt this week for a sneak preview. Here’s the scoop.
Expect N-able to spend a lot of time talking the delivery of its long-awaited mobile device management functionality. N-able announced plans to add it at last year’s summit, so it’s no surprise that it will premiere this year. And just like last year, you can expect many of the users in the audience to be wielding iPads, iPhones and Android devices. (Those happen to be the platforms N-able will initially support.)
“We’ve been building it over the last two and a half years in conjunction with our Elite partners,” Garbutt told me. “It is a beautiful tool. We went through the whole build by OEM scenario. We couldn’t find anything that met the needs of our partners so we designed this from the ground up."
Also on the AgendaOther introductions coming next week will include the next generation of Report Manager and a whole new level of integration with PSA software within N-central.
Garbutt also promised news around N-able’s popular Freemium project for partners. “It’s not exactly the same as before, but it’s one the partners will absolutely love.”
Also on the agenda is the introduction of a new set of management capabilities for the N-able Automation Manager. Automation Manager made its debut in July in N-central offering a drag-and-drop MSP automation studio that MSPs can use to automate tasks including those best practices they find in the MSP Technician Runbook. Well, expect Automation Manager to become even easier to use and to offer notifications as well.
“Automation Manager helps MSPs and how they deliver services at the NOC and help desk,” Garbutt said. “It enables them to have very junior people do senior people’s jobs, freeing up the senior people to go out and do things that will make more money.”
N-able MomentumN-able will also likely talk about the company’s momentum in the last year. It has increased its MSP partner ranks by 50 percent year over year, and the number of MSPs that are buying more licensing from N-able has grown by 85 percent, according to Garbutt. N-able is enjoying a partner retention rate of 96 percent, Garbutt added.
End-user customers have also increased. In 2010 the company counted 19,000 and now that number is up to 77,000, a 405 increase since N-able introduced its Freemium model.

Incidentally, this trip to Montreal will take me back to the scene of my senior class trip which happened many more years ago than I care to remember.
