Managed service providers (MSPs) now can leverage TeamViewer‘s online collaboration software to start a chat, video call, presentation or remote control session from within Microsoft Outlook.

TeamViewer has launched the TeamViewer App for Outlook, which enables sales professionals, service technicians and other TeamViewer users to establish a direct connection to other TeamViewer contacts in Outlook.

This app delivers efficient communication through instantaneous feedback, TeamViewer said, because it allows Outlook users to connect with their email recipients or senders without switching from one application to another.

“The basic idea was to facilitate the day-to-day usage of TeamViewer and Outlook by providing an integration into Outlook. Since many companies are using Outlook as their main communication platform, the TeamViewer app allows them to work more efficiently with each other from within one platform – Outlook,” Christoph Schneider, TeamViewer’s team manager for product management, told MSPmentor.

In addition, TeamViewer said the app features:

  • Familiar TeamViewer chat, video call, presentation and remote control icons

  • Integrated status indicator

  • The ability to launch a chat, video call, presentation or remote control session at any time

Kornelius Brunner, TeamViewer’s head of product management, noted that the TeamViewer App for Outlook offers desktop sharing and integration, and ultimately, can help users save time as well.

TeamViewer said the TeamViewer App for Outlook works with Windows and Mac OS X and requires an email account at an Exchange Online Server or an Exchange Server 2013. Users can either install it individually, TeamViewer said, or Exchange server administrators can install it for all their users.

The TeamViewer App for Outlook can be downloaded for free here.
