Remote monitoring and management (RMM) software provider LabTech Software “wants to challenge the status quo” with its Synergy application exchange platform.

Tony Thomas, LabTech Software’s director of product management, told MSPmentor his company is driven by purpose — to create an app exchange platform that promotes innovation.

“The Synergy platform is not about technology,” Thomas said. “It’s an ecosystem that takes a team to be successful.”

LabTech Software CEO Matt Nachtrab unveiled the Synergy platform at Automation Nation in June, noting his company’s RMM platform was originally created “with an open-source mindset” so that it ultimately could be expanded.

The company’s goal is to “empower creators to rapidly engineer their imagination into innovation through a vibrant ecosystem of platform-centric computing” through its Synergy platform.

Thomas said the Synergy platform is designed to produce an ecosystem of “citizen developers” who can create and share LabTech apps.

These developers are “everyday innovators” who will now have the ability to create and launch apps that could transform LabTech’s RMM platform and the IT services industry.

“We’re giving these developers the courage to change things, and we believe the Synergy platform could change the face of the IT services industry as a whole,” Thomas said.

How does the Synergy platform work?

Thomas noted the Synergy platform will leverage rapid development kits that are:

  • Codeless

  • Feature inputs and outputs

  • Sharable

  • User-friendly

LabTech Software will leverage the platform as well.

“We eat our own dog food, and we drink our own champagne,” Thomas added.

Managed service providers (MSPs) should expect a staggered release of the Synergy platform over the next 18 months, according to Thomas.

LabTech Software will host a Synergy platform training bootcamp in Tampa, Fla. from Sept. 29 to Oct. 1.

The company also will launch an app store that will feature:

  • Solution Center

  • Solution Exchange

  • Solution Inspector

Thomas noted LabTech Software will continuously develop tools to help citizen developers optimize the Synergy platform.

“We don’t believe our platform is a one-hit wonder,” he said. “We want to make sure people will continue to use it to innovate.”
