LabTech 2013.1: 5 Things MSPs Need to Know
LabTech Software today launched a new version of its remote monitoring and management (RMM) platform — the release that the company previewed last week during its Automation Nation 2014 conference.
The company said LabTech 2013.1 enables its IT service provider and managed service provider (MSP) partners “to monitor and manage modern data centers, improve connectivity and productivity, ensure data protection and recovery and optimize the operational efficiency of their businesses to improve the bottom line.”
LabTech 2013.1 has several enhancements that are designed to help the company’s partners expand their IT management capabilities, including:
- New LabTech Virtualization Manager that provides agentless VMware (VMW) infrastructure monitoring and basic management
- New vPro Management Workspace, an Intel vPro integrated plug-in that “enables easy onboarding of devices, device discovery with AMT and vPro-enabled machines and features seamless integration of core vPro management functions”
- Enhanced CA Technologies D2D and Symantec (SYMC) Backup Exec integrations that allow IT technicians to monitor backups directly from the LabTech console
- ConnectWise Plug-in 6.1 that offers contact syncing, improved usability and new work type overrides
- Numerous fixes to known stability and usability issues
The company noted it utilized partner feedback to develop LabTech 2013.1 and ensure users can monitor and maintain their IT infrastructure effectively.
LabTech Software CEO Matt Nachtrab commented on the new release in a prepared statement:

LabTech Software said its RMM platform provides basic host and guest management capabilities and includes out-of-the-box monitors based on VMware best practices.
