Kaseya’s Product Roadmap: Here’s What You Need to Know

Don LeClair, Kaseya's executive vice president of product management, provided a product roadmap and strategy plan at this week's Kaseya Connect conference in Orlando, Florida. Here's everything you need to know.

Remote monitoring and management (RMM) platform provider Kaseya provided details of its product roadmap for the future during its Kaseya Connect conference in Orlando, Florida this week. Don LeClair, the company’s executive vice president of product management, provided an overview of what IT service providers and MSPs can expect in the months ahead. Here are the details.

But first, some quick background about the event so far this week. CEO Yogesh Gupta announced a new cloud based platform called Project Helios that will take intelligence from Kaseya’s IT management platform and leverage it to offer additional functionality via apps to IT service providers. Here’s what LeClair added to that conversation and more.

What lies ahead for Kaseya? Here are five things you need to know about Kaseya’s product roadmap:

1. Increasing parity between VSA Cloud and on-premise

Kaseya will continue to support both Virtual System Administrator (VSA) Cloud and on-premise customers, LeClair said, and is exploring ways to increase the parity between both of its VSA offerings.

“We are looking across the product to make sure you can get the same functionality both in cloud and on-premise,” LeClair noted.

For example, Kaseya released a VSA sandbox license during Connect that enables MSPs to test the platform and see how it works for free in the cloud. This license is available for both VSA Cloud and on-premise customers.

2. Project Helios could help MSPs and their customers

Kaseya CEO Yogesh Gupta provided details about Project Helios during Connect, and LeClair noted that his company has many goals for its new platform-as-a-service (PaaS).

LeClair added that Kaseya will “design the product around what its customers are doing” to ensure MSPs can build applications that they can use to better control their customers’ IT.

“Our overall design goals are mobile first. We want to make sure you have a task-oriented interface that’s adaptable to different kinds of devices,” LeClair said. “Goal number two is to simplify everything, and as part of that simplification, use pre-defined content.”

3. Security remains a top priority

Kaseya acquired Scorpion Software and its AuthAnvil identity and access management (IAM) products last year and plans to make AuthAnvil integration quick and easy for MSPs, LeClair said.

The RMM platform provider will offer AuthAnvil integration as part of Kaseya VSA, LeClair said, and provide multi-factor authentication (MFA) and single sign-on (SSO) capabilities for MSPs and their customers.

LeClair noted that MFA and SSO capabilities are expected to be available for both Kaseya VSA Cloud and on-premise customers.

4. Expect Live Connect enhancements in the future

Kaseya Live Connect Remote Access delivers access to system-level controls without having to interact with the desktop of a remote computer.

This solution represents “the Swiss Army knife of VSA,” LeClair said, because it “brings together all of the capabilities that you can use to manage an endpoint.”

And as such, Kaseya plans to explore new ways to “bring value forward” with Live Connect, LeClair said.

5. Kaseya took steps to improve its RMM platform last year

Kaseya has a regular cadence for new deliverables, LeClair said, and continued to improve its RMM platform last year. The company focused on increasing the capability, reliability and performance of its core product, he added, to introduce new services that MSPs could offer to their customers.

LeClair pointed out that some of his company’s recent accomplishments included:

  • Remote control improvements – 160,000 hours and 20 million sessions saved
  • Security updates – More than 300 SSO applications were launched with AuthAnvil
  • EMM – Enterprise mobility management (EMM) now available priced at $1 per user per month.

He also noted that Kaseya wants to make it easier for MSPs to support their customers and will continue to search for ways to “bring the whole Kaseya product forward.”
