GroundWork Monitor Enterprise 6.3 Arrives for MSPs
GroundWork Open Source, which develops monitoring and network management software, today announced general availability of GroundWork Monitor Enterprise 6.3. The software, designed for IT administrators and managed services providers, allows users to create customized views of their processes and infrastructure. Here are some quick details.
The diagram and visualization capability is based on software from Super-Visions BVBA, which leverages the NagVis open source project. GroundWork Open Source claims the new software will help MSPs to display clear diagrams and visualizations that link IT operations with business objectives. According to the company, other features in GroundWork Monitor Enterprise 6.3 include:
- Audible alarms for events provides operators with a second communication channel so they can effectively multi-task when triaging and diagnosing alarms.
- New dashboard options including new filtering options for customizing views.
- Improved Java support for monitoring applications using the Oracle Weblogic 10 environment.
GroundWork Open Source strives to position itself as an alternative to traditional Big 4 management tools like CA, BMC, HP OpenView and IBM Tivoli. Over the past year or so, GroundWork has also been reaching out to MSPs, positioning GroundWork Monitor Enterprise as a remote monitoring and management platform for service providers. GroundWork’s MSP push accelerated in September 2010 when the company launched an MSP-centric portal.
