Continuum Adds Board Member with Telecom Experience
Remote monitoring and management platform provider Continuum has added a new member to its board of directors, and his background offers some big clues about the company’s future direction. Continuum said in a statement that James Foy brings telecom industry experience to the company to help expansion in that market segment. Here are the details.
Foy most recently served as chairman and interim CEO at Talend, an open source data management and business process integration technology company. He still serves as a board member there, and also serves on the boards of LiveLook and Dealertrack.
Here’s what Foy had to say about joining Continuum’s board:
“Continuum not only understands and supports the channel business models but also how to apply their expertise in other areas such as the telecom industry,” Foy said, in a prepared statement. “In fact, their integrated software and services platform is uniquely suited to helping telecom VARs capitalize on the convergence of voice and data in the expanding unified communications market as it solves the technical services delivery aspects of the equation.”
Continuum was acquired by Summit Partners, a private equity firm, in September 2011, and a year ago Continuum CEO Michael George indicated that Summit was targeting an IPO as the exit strategy, although we have no indication of the time frame for such a move. The telecom market would certainly offer an expanded customer base that could prepare the company for such an exit strategy.
Foy’s LinkedIn profile summary also currently highlights his business leadership skills and successful exits. Continuum’s announcement about Foy also highlighted the new board member’s experience with acquisitions. Meanwhile, here’s what Continuum’s CEO had to say about Foy’s appointment to his board:
“Jim Foy’s broad industry experience is a great fit for our board of directors. His background encompasses virtually all aspects of successful vision and leadership in the technology marketplace. He is joining the board at an ideal time, as Continuum advances partnerships with unified communications specialists seeking to add new revenue streams by adding managed IT services to their telephony offerings. Jim’s deep related experience will bring even more insight and value to this strategy, as well as to our MSP channel customer base.”
